Joint Event GARP and CFA Society Germany: Regulation of OTC-Derivatives under EMIR: Perspectives of Supervision and Asset Management Industry
The EU Regulation on OTC Derivatives, Central Counterparties and Trade Repositories (aka European Market Infrastructure Regulation - EMIR) aims at no less than establishing more stable, transparent and efficient derivatives markets. To achieve these goals, certain over-the-counter derivatives will have to be cleared through central counterparties in the future, while risk mitigating measures will have to be implemented for others. In addition to that, extensive reporting requirements will come into place, expectedly starting 1st July 2013.
The regulation presents challenges to both supervisors and practitioners who are now each in the last stage of preparation before the new requirements finally become effective.
In the first presentation of the evening, Dr. Christian Sigmundt will give a brief summary of the most important aspects of the new requirements before providing some insights into the main challenges a supervisory authority faces with regard to the regulation. In the second presentation, Felix Ertl will discuss the impact of EMIR on the funds industry as well as the major open issues remaining to be solved. Both presentations will be given in German.
Following each presentation participants will be able to raise questions and discuss related items. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
