Ten years after the financial crisis: Current state of financial markets regulation in the EU

Many issues which led to the financial crisis ten years ago have not been addressed properly. Regulatory and supervisory gaps still remain. In addition, other challenges have emerged:

Brexit and Fintech will bring many disruptions in the industry and may lead to stricter regulations and supervisory practices in the EU. The current review of the European Supervisory Authorities and the proposals on sustainable finance are two other important initiatives which could change the landscape in the EU financial markets sector. In addition, new forms of shadow banking and finance outside of the current prudential regulatory framework are growing exponentially and might pose systemic risks.

The speakers will analyse these and other issues and focus on how this changing environment will affect the financial services sector.
