Across the globe, organisations, investors and policy makers are navigating the complexities of setting and implementing climate objectives. The EU has made legally binding to commitments to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and net negative emissions thereafter. Conversely, we have also observed increasing backlash against the climate agenda in some part of the world.

In the asset management industry, investors and asset managers alike are seeking practical ways to reduce the carbon footprint of their portfolios to ensure alignment with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Yet, these ambitions do not come without its challenges. For fixed income, specific challenges include the absence of standardized frameworks for certain asset classes, limitations in emissions data and methods to assist investors in achieving real-world decarbonization. However, there are also opportunities that come into play, and fixed income has several levers to utilize.

Join Willem Visser & Veronique Chapplow as they discuss how they think about these challenges in the context of the current environment, as well as the potential opportunities and tools we can leverage to support issuers in their transition to a low carbon economy.
